Marty Casey | Silver Elements Collection

Silver Elements Collection // Photo: Cheryl Spelts

A little over two weeks ago I got to do a fun session with Marty Casey for his Silver Elements Collection. It’s a line of really beautiful jewelry that he designed with Marla Zegart – and the running theme through the whole collection is the natural environment. The first piece, launched a couple of months ago was named after his big song from Rock Star: INXS, “Trees.” And the newer pieces are part of the Stars collection, also named after a new song, “I See Stars” – and come with a CD single of “I See Stars.” It’s a GREAT song – definitely one of my all-time favorites!

We shot in downtown La Jolla and right on the beach in Pacific Beach, under the Crystal Pier. So beautiful jewelry, incredible setting, and a hot rock star – perfect assignment for me!

I’m sure some of the images from this session will end up in my online portfolio at some point in the future – it’s arguably some of the best work of my entire career – I’m really proud of it! But for now, the only place to see it is in Silver Elements Collection’s Online Catalog – so go look! And buy something! Every purchase helps to plant a tree in conjunction with American Forests “Global Releaf” Ecosystem Restoration Projects. So you not only get a beautiful piece of jewelry you’ll be able to wear forever, but you’re also helping the environment!

My (Current) Favorite Food

Blueberries and Raspberriess // Photo: Cheryl Spelts

The image above is from the summer – so those are local blueberries and raspberries – but we’re still getting blueberries now, even though it’s November. They may be from Guatemala or Honduras or who knows where, but hey, they’re still a super-food, and they make you feel fabulous! Definitely my favorite food…

Voting in a Small Town

Idyllwild Town Hall

In Fallbrook I used to love voting at the First Christian Church – a beautiful little Gothic-Revival church, constructed in 1887. How can you beat voting in a little white church with a tall steeple? It’s so American, and so patriotic, it just feels right.

But for me today, the election season ended at the Idyllwild Town Hall – and I have to admit it felt just as right.

I love small towns!

Ocean by iPhone

I’ve said it before, when I don’t want to carry my real camera, I love my iPhone! It’s fun. And sometimes I get images I love – like the one above. I love the ocean, so that helps – and today was beautiful – there were grey clouds hovering, with patches of sun peaking through. Just the perfect fall day to visit the beach!

Nathan

Nathan

Even with chapped lips my nephew Nathan is a knock-out! And he’s a killer at Monopoly. He wins… every… single… time…

Quietdrive at the Glass House in Pomona, California

On Tuesday one of my favorite bands, Quietdrive from Minneapolis, Minnesota, released their latest CD and launched a new tour at the Glass House in Pomona, California. The image above was shot after the show in the lobby, with a group of their fans watching – so it’s more a quickie than a serious band portrait – but it’s still fun!

But the real fun was shooting them live – they’re a great band to see in concert! I’ve posted the slideshow from the concert on RBL and it’s big and bold and beautiful – definitely worth watching. And if you’ve never seen a violin at a rock show, then you really need to look!

Quietdrive is currently on tour across the United States and the United Kingdom – so catch them if you can. Watch the slideshow above and listen to their music on MySpace, and you’ll understand…

Can you ever have too much Marty Casey? I think not! The image above was shot in San Juan Capistrano last month, and as of today it’s one of the images rotating through on the front page of martycasey.com.

There are a few more of my images rotating through too. More, more, more on those later…
