Music Photographer
Music photographer Cheryl Spelts specializes in edgy beautiful promo shots for both rock bands and solo artists. Her work as a music photographer has been featured in Gig Magazine, San Diego Magazine, and numerous web sites.
When you combine multiple art forms, sometimes you get magic! Music photography is like that - it's a visual art form, strongly influenced by the music the band or artist produces. As a music photographer I feel the music - I have to! Then add in my own natural artistic impulses, and a great location, and the result is images that really showcase the musician or band.
My style of music photography has been called edgy beautiful, and I think that's a perfect description. Edgy beautiful... I've created images for rock bands and solo artists for posters, CD covers, and every other kind of media!
I also love shooting bands and solo artists live in concert. As a music photographer it takes great instincts to shoot live concerts. It all happens so quickly, so capturing the defining moments is a definite skill! And the in-between moments can be just as interesting, and tell a totally different part of the story. That's what it's really all about - telling the story of the concert. Sometimes it's all about that one big defining image, and other times it's a series of images - but either way, it's telling that story...
I shoot musicians and bands all over Southern California, from Los Angeles to San Diego, and as far east as Riverside County - but I'm definitely open to locations and assignments outside of my little corner of the world!
